Skin Cancer Treatments
At The Center for Dermatological Disease in Roswell, Alpharetta, Cumming, Sandy Springs, GA, and surrounding areas, our goal is to ensure your skin stays healthy and to offer you options for skin cancer treatment.
Our experienced and skilled doctors can identify an area of skin cancer and the type of cancer that requires treatment. Only then can the doctor recommend specific skin cancer treatment options.
However, the treatment of choice depends on your skin cancer type and the cancer stage.
- Cryotherapy
Liquid nitrogen freezes skin cancer. The cancer disappears as the area heals and the skin cells slough off. - Excisional Surgery
The doctor surgically removes the cancer. - Mohs Surgery
Our surgeon peels away a thin layer of skin and examines it under a microscope. If cancer cells are present, the doctor peels away another thin layer of skin and rechecks for cancerous cells. The doctor continues until they see no more cancer cells under the microscope. - Curettage and Electrodesiccation
The doctor uses a sharp tool with a loop to scrap across the tumor, removing cancerous cells. An electric needle destroys the remaining cancerous cells. - Chemotherapy
The doctor administers cancer-killing chemicals via IV, topically to the site, or in pill form. - Immunotherapy
The doctor administers medications that boost your immune system to kill cancer cells. - Radiation Therapy
An intense energy beam targeted into the cancer site kills the cancer cells. - Photodynamic Therapy
The doctor uses a blue or red fluorescent light to kill cancer cells. This light does not destroy any healthy tissue.
